GISAC >> About GISAC

ORIGIN
After the September 11 attacks, the Georgia Information Sharing & Analysis Center (GISAC) was created to solve the information / intelligence sharing challenges between federal, state, and local agencies.

MISSION
GISAC’s primary mission is to serve as the state’s focal point for the collection, assessment, analysis, and dissemination of terrorism intelligence relating to Georgia.

GISAC was not intended to replace or duplicate the counter-terrorism functions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), but rather to enhance and facilitate the collection of information from local and state sources, and to integrate that information into a system that would benefit homeland security and counter-terrorism intelligence programs at all levels.

COMPOSITION
GISAC is composed of personnel representing the following agencies and organizations:

  • Georgia Office of Homeland Security / Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GOHS/GEMA)
  • Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI)
  • Georgia Department of Public Safety / Georgia State Patrol (GSP)
  • Georgia Sheriff’s Association (GSA)
  • Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP)
  • Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC)
  • Georgia Department of Corrections
