Internet Safety
In the Fall of 2004, the School Safety Unit received certified training to become Internet Safety Instructors for the State of Georgia. Acting under the umbrella of the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the School Safety Unit has lead the way regarding community education.
The internet is an evolution requiring advanced and continual training. Recently, our Unit has received training from such organizations as I-Safe and NetSmartz in order to understand their approach as well as offer the most amount of information available regarding internet safety.
The School Safety Unit provides Internet Safety community education training programs. Based on availability, these programs are available free of charge at your location. Advanced notice is required. For more information regarding Internet Safety, please e-mail your School Safety Coordinator or by e-mailing GEMA-SchoolSafety@gema.ga.gov.
In April 2007, the School Safety Unit teamed with the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) and GTRI (Georgia Tech Research Institute) in order to create a podcast concerning social networking sites. To hear this podcast, please visit www.f3program.org/podcasts/quicktakes.html
